  • Blank notebooks or journals
  • Magazines, colored paper, and scrap fabric
  • Scissors
  • Glue sticks
  • Markers, pens, and colored pencils
  • Stickers and washi tape
  • Mod Podge and brushes
  • Alphabet stickers or stamps

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Journals: Provide each child with a blank notebook or journal. If the covers are plain, they can paint or color them first.
  2. Create Collage Materials: Kids can browse through magazines and cut out images, patterns, or words they like. Provide colored paper, scrap fabric, and stickers for additional materials.
  3. Design the Cover: Using glue sticks, kids can arrange and attach their chosen images, words, and patterns to the cover of their journals. Encourage layering and overlapping for a true collage effect.
  4. Add Personalization: Kids can use alphabet stickers or stamps to add their names or favorite words to the cover. They can also use markers or pens to draw additional details or write messages.
  5. Seal the Collage: Once the collage is complete, apply a layer of Mod Podge over the entire cover to seal and protect the design. Let it dry completely.
  6. Final Touches: Add any last embellishments, such as washi tape borders or extra stickers. Kids now have a personalized journal they can use for writing, drawing, or keeping memories.

These crafts are not only fun but also allow kids to express their creativity and take home a unique piece of art they made themselves.
